Biography

Born in Bahía Blanca, Lautaro Martínez developed at Racing Club in Avellaneda, making his professional debut in November 2015 when replacing club legend Diego Milito. His explosive tenacity, aerial prowess, and clinical finishing earned him the nickname 'El Toro' (The Bull). In July 2018, Martínez signed for Inter Milan. He forged a formidable partnership with Romelu Lukaku, leading Inter to the 2020-21 Serie A championship—the club's first in eleven years. Elevated to team captain in 2023, Martínez enjoyed a magnificent 2023-24 season, scoring 24 league goals to win the Capocannoniere and Serie A Most Valuable Player award as Inter captured their 20th Scudetto. With Argentina, Martínez was a vital contributor to the 2021 Copa América and 2022 FIFA World Cup victories, converting the decisive quarter-final penalty against the Netherlands. At the 2024 Copa América, he won the Golden Boot with five goals, including a dramatic 112th-minute winner in the final against Colombia to seal the trophy.
