Philip Walter Foden
English playmaker Phil Foden won the 2023-24 FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season after helping Manchester City capture six league titles.
Biography
Raised in Stockport, Phil Foden joined Manchester City's academy at age eight as a boyhood supporter. He gained global attention in October 2017 when he won the Golden Ball as the best player at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, scoring twice in the final as England defeated Spain 5-2. Pep Guardiola gradually integrated him into Manchester City's first team, praising him as one of the most naturally gifted talents he had ever coached. Foden became the youngest player to win six Premier League championships, doing so by the age of 23. Capable of operating across either wing or as a central attacking midfielder, he enjoyed a career-best campaign in 2023-24, scoring 27 goals in all competitions, including two on the final day against West Ham to seal the title. His performances earned him the Premier League Player of the Season, the FWA Footballer of the Year, and the PFA Players' Player of the Year. For England, Foden has been a regular starter, helping the national side reach back-to-back European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024.
